001 Overview

Justin Phu Media has partnered with multiple police agencies throughout Southern California to produce high level recruitment videos for each department. Social media has changed the way recruits consume media and video content. All departments have an opportunity to add intrinsic value to their recruitment process by marketing their police agencies with this new and modern approach. We focus on highlighting the agency, all personnel, specialized departments, and the agency's positive impact on the community.

002 our role
  • Video Pre-Production: Brainstorm ideation session with each Police Department to understand their needs, vision, and resources. Story Board Concepts, and shot list approval for day of production.
  • Video Production: 4-8 days of filming over 1-3 months, managing over 50+ personnel and their roles in the film. (3) 4K High Definition Cameras, Drones, Audio, Lighting, and Stabilizer equipment
  • Post-Production: (2) versions of the finalized video - Long Format for Facebook, Youtube, and FPD Website + Short Format for Instagram promotions.
003 Goals/CHallenges

With the ongoing growth of social media and internet, law enforcement undergoes even more scrutiny and criticism from the public, especially in their immediate community. The goal of our videos is to create an accurate portrayal of what it takes to be a law enforcement member, the importance of protecting their community, and highlight their personnel + specialized units to showcase job opportunities within the PD. All things considering, the video needed to stand out from other recruitment videos within the respective region to increase their efforts in recruitment.

We created a visual identity and designed a series of posters and flyers for Fullerton Police Department's recruitment campaign.

In order to create recruitment flyers, we organized a photoshoot with the Fullerton police department and captured on-brand visual content for a range of positions from police cadets, trainees, K9s, forensic specialists, swat team etc.

005 Insights

The success of this recruitment film relies heavily on the participation from agency personnel. Although JPM brought a team of 4 (Director, Director of Photography, Camera #1 & #2 Operator, Drone Aviator Pilot) and we had 2-months of prep work fulfilled, the police agency project leads did a tremendous job coordinating dates/times/scenes that needed police personnel contribution. Personnel that arrived on days of filming were beyond cooperative and very enthusiastic. The combined efforts of JPM high level pre-production planning and day of production filming and PD personnel contributions resulted in the overall success of our projects.
